Establishments               Üsküdar Municipality Mehmet Naci Aköz Kite Kite Museum official establishment authority is obtained from the decision of Istanbul Kiteboarders Association and Üsküdar Municipality Assembly.

3.6) To undertake all necessary infrastructure studies, research and research for the establishment of a kite museum, which is believed to have a very important role in transferring information, documents and findings obtained by researching the past of kite cultures to future generations, and which have examples in many countries of the world, or abroad. To donate or buy various kites, kite materials, kite related books, magazines and documents to exhibit in the kite museum, to transfer all materials obtained about the kite museum to the museum free of charge in case of museum establishment.

It was decided unanimously for the establishment of a framework of the museum, with Mehmet Naci AKÖZ Üsküdar Municipality, in accordance with articles 14 and 18 of the Municipality Law No. 5393.

How the museum products were collected;

a) Üsküdar Municipality Mehmet Naci Aköz wrote in 1986 and sent to 26 different countries, expressing that he sought "support for the the Development of kite cultures in Turkey ".

b) Mehmet Naci Aköz, who lived in Holland in 1991 - 1993, contributed to the collection of museums by bringing various products collected from Holland, Belgium and Germany especially to Turkey.

c) The contributions of the Dutch, German, Belgian, Danish, Luxembourg, Austrian, British and Malaysian kiteflyers coming to Turkey to participate in the I and II Istanbul International Kite Festival, projected by Mehmet Naci Aköz in 1997 and 1998, were organized under the sponsorship of İBB Size.

d)  The contributions of kites from America, Japan, India, Indonesia, Germany and UK participating in the 3rd and 4th Istanbul International Kite Festival held in 2005 and 2006 officially opened kite music and the number of products at hand reached 500.

e) In addition to the above movements, products coming from various sources (our members exported abroad or donated to museum) and kites and other products recovered from different regions within the country have reached to 26 countries and over 2000 products collection as of today (March 2016).

Where is the museum, how is the physical structure;

The museum today has a total of 500 square meters of closed space, including 2 separate museum saloons, 3 separate workshops and 1 kite library, close to the coastline of Üsküdar, which is very centrally located in Istanbul (200 meters from the Marmaray station and on the street of the Nikah palace).

Üsküdar Municipality Mehmet Naci Aköz Inside of the Kite Museum, ceilings, walls and places are filled with various kites and related products, publications and materials are exhibited in the library section.

Our museum is one of the most ideal museum that continues its activities within the scope of "Museum Education Project" which is run by Ministry of Culture and Tourism "Child Friendly Museum" and İstanbul National Education Directorate.

Collective visits of schools or non-governmental organizations related to children are frequent.

Üsküdar Municipality Mehmet Naci Aköz Kite Museum is open all year round from 10:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and entrance is free of charge.

The visitors are informed about how the kite cultures are perceived in different countries and the events they took place in the history, and 3-6 years old and the children in the elementary school age are performing interactive programs with theatrical narration.

Üsküdar Municipality Mehmet Naci Aköz Information about the products, donors' names, locations and countries in the Kite Museum are displayed along with country and corporate flags.

The possibilities provided by the museum;

These curiosities or wishes of those who want to see kites, flying cultures, or curiosity, and research on them are met.

Visitors can take a trip to the museum which is open to the public and to the researchers, as well as take video or photographs with permission, receive photocopies of the publications, and provide library services.

Written and visual media organizations often make programs in the museum and publish them in various circles.

Üsküdar Belediyesi Mehmet Naci Aköz Uçurtma müzesinde teknik kitaplar, tarih, hikaye kitapları, şiirler, şarkılar ve benzeri belgeler bulunmaktadır.

Photo and photo assisted brochures about the history of the kites were created.

All working days are taught kite at the kite workshop.

The participants of the workshop are practiced with examples from Turkish kite culture.

Only the material cost is taken from the participants in the workshop (lath, paper, rope, tail, etc.)

Üsküdar Municipality Mehmet Naci Aköz Kite Museum is occasionally organizing exhibitions or conferences in colleges, universities and / or various NGOs' halls.

Üsküdar Municipality Mehmet Naci Aköz Among the targets of the kite museum is to leave a beautiful work to the next generations by having a collection which can be expressed by thousands, belonging to dozens of countries and provided by hundreds of institutions.

With this project started in 2012 and continuing in this frame, all world countries are under the spotlight and communication with the federations, associations, clubs and kiteflyers in the related country is made and various requests related to kite culture are made to provide new participation to the collection and "World kite family tree" is prepared.

We are also continuing our virtual museum building activities at www.ucurtmadunyasi.com, our association. When these works are finished, all products in our museum will serve the whole world with detailed archive information.
